This 75-kilometre route stays close to Waterford City throughout, looping south through Passage East, Cheekpoint, and Dunmore East before returning via Tramore. Ireland's oldest city is the obvious overnight choice. Hotels and guesthouses cluster around the Quays and the Viking Triangle, placing you within walking distance of Reginald's Tower, the Medieval Museum, and the Waterford Crystal factory. Dunmore East is a quick 20-minute drive southeast, and the Passage East ferry to Hook Head is even closer. Waterford's waterfront restaurants make an ideal spot for dinner after a day on the coast.

The Waterford City & Viking Coast is 75km and about 1.5 hours of driving, though 1 day is the honest figure once you factor in the stops.
